ciRS-7 Details

Basic Information
circRNA    ciRS-7
Alias    -
circBase ID    -
Host gene    CDR1
Species    homo sapiens
Peptide    -
Sequence  -

Expression
Description  We indeed detected ciRS-7 in the insulin-secreting cell lines INS832/13, and MIN6B1, as well as, in mouse, rat, and human islets.
Method    RNA-seq, microarray, qRT-PCR
Sample    INS832/13, MIN6B1, mouse islets, ratislets, human islets.

Function
Description  As we found a reduction in ciRS-7 level in the islets of db/db and ob/ob mice, we reproduced the decreased expression in wild type beta-cells and observed that insulin secretion tends to be reduced (p = 0.058) while insulin content is unaffected. Alterations of ciRS-7 levels under diabetic conditions may contribute to beta-cell dysfunction.
Method    loss of function
in vitro    beta-cells, MIN6B1 cells
in vivo    the islets of db/db and ob/ob mice
